Interview conducted by Elizabeth Wahlert - Athanssiadis/ Freelance writer and editor

Kristin Maloney ND was born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts in the USA. She holds a doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine from Bastyr University in Seattle, Washington, a leading center for natural health and the sciences. She has resided permanently in Ilioupoli since September 2009 following her marriage to her Greek husband, Harris Gerodimos, a restaurateur at AVOCADO Vegetarian Cafe. Kristin is a licensed Naturopathic doctor in the state of Vermont, USA and obtained her certification by the Homeopaths Association of Greece (HAG) in 2009 and as such is a fully licensed Homeopathic physician in this country.

The Ilioupoli Natural Health Center under Kristin's direction provides homeopathic therapies in the following domains: Naturopathic Medicine, Classical, Homeopathy, Craniosacral Therapy, Botanical Medicine, and Clinical Nutrition.

Areas of particular interest and expertise are in the area of pediatric health and wellbeing including lactating infants, food allergies, ADHD, colic, and gastrointestinal disorders in infants and children In addition, she has specialized in women's health issues ranging from fertility and pregnancy to hormonal imbalances, menstrual irregularities and menopausal concerns. Kristin strives to identify the root cause of her patient's health challenges and then work with the body's natural ability to heal itself using the least invasive and most appropriate natural treatments possible.

Kristin looks forward to working with new clients and offers a free ten minute phone consultation to prospective patients to answer any questions they might have. Appropriate therapies specifically tailored to meet the needs of her patients are then discussed in detail during an in depth appointment which can last up to two hours in duration. The interview delves into the patient's specific mental, emotional, and physical health concerns.

Kristin emphasizes that the homeopathic services she provides are designed to complement and supplement, but not take the place of her patients' regular primary traditional health care provider. English is the working language for the therapies and services Kristin provides. This month she will establish a professional affiliation with NYSY STUDIOS; Yoga and Pilates Center located at 25 Nikis Street in central Athens.

Kristin journey along the road less traveled by . . .
Some would call it fate, others karma, and others would say it was Kristin's destiny when she met Harris Geordimos on the island of Mykonos during the summer of 2006 where he was employed as the Maître d' of the Ambrosia Restaurant at the Royal Myconian Hotel. They share a similar passion for organic produce, vegetarian food, and good nutrition. It was this common bond that led Harris to tell Kristin that he wanted to get to know her better despite their brief and fleeting three day relationship on Mykonos. From June of 2007 until August of 2008 Harris joined Kristin in Seattle, Washington where she was in her fourth year of medical school at Bastyr University . It was a challenging and stressful time for the couple and Harris returned to Greece in August 2008. Completing her degree in naturopathy was Kristin's top priority and she remained in Seattle to complete her fifth and final year studies in order to obtain her license as a naturopathic doctor before moving to Greece permanently on September 11, 2009.

When Kristin was asked what she envisions for her life in five years time, she responded that she does not exclude the possibility of returning to the United States and setting up a naturopathy practice on the east coast in Connecticut or Boston. Substantial college loans which made it possible for her to attend medical school need to be paid off.

Kristin and her Greek husband, eagerly await the birth of their first child in December.
